Tortilis Camp, Amboseli National Park
Tortilis Camp
Hotel Rating
Our rating: Premium | Property style: Tented Camp
Sat within a 30,000-acre private concession of the Amboseli National Park, the gorgeously styled Tortilis Camp is a haven of tranquillity away from the large crowds often associated with the national parks. Although the camp is relatively large with 16 tents, 1 family tent and a private house, the tents are all nicely spread out and never seem crowded. Inside, the tents are all styled with traditional safari furnishings and fronts that roll up to offer views out across the open plains to Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance. The four-poster beds are draped in mosquito nets and, as well as en-suite bathrooms, there are sunken bathtubs in each room. The main area is equally stylish and well laid-out, with a swimming pool to relax by and plenty of areas for some solitary downtime. The food here is superb and a real draw to Tortilis. A full range of activities are included with the main feature of the programme being the day drives in both the conservancy and main part of the park and night drives just in the conservancy. Guided, daily walks and visits to traditional Maasai villages are also offered.
