Hotel Rating
Our rating: Superior | Property style: Tented Camp
Porini Amboseli Lodge is tucked away within the Selenkay Conservancy of the Amboseli National Park. The camp is relatively small with just 10 spacious guest tents, all of which are nicely spread apart around the grounds of the camp. Porini has a traditional feel to it, with light canvas safari tents covered by a canopy to keep the sun off during the day. The windows are covered with gauze to allow a cooling breeze to blow through and tents are spacious inside with double and single beds, solar lighting and en-suite bathrooms with showers and flush loos, as well as a covered seating area to relax in the afternoons. The main area is a large, open-sided mess tent which leads through to the dining room. Swing chairs can be found outside for those looking to relax in the sunshine and in the evening the firepit is a popular place to gather and socialise. Activities on offer include day game drives within the conservancy and main national park and night drives within the conservancy. Full days outings to the national park with picnic lunch are also very popular, as are escorted walks through traditional Maasai villages.
