Our rating: Premium | Property style: Lodge
The beautiful Masoala Forest Lodge is found in an isolated tract of pristine rainforest in the national park on the east coast of Madagascar. With a wonderful range of activities and outstanding accommodation, this is one of the country’s best lodges and great spot to spend a few nights. There are just seven treehouses at the lodge, raised up on stilts within the forest canopy and with views out to sea. The rooms themselves are canvas safari-style tents with gauze covered windows and roll-up fronts. The en-suite bathrooms are open to the elements and come with a full range of toiletries. At the front of each room there is a shaded veranda with a hammock to relax in the warm afternoons. There are two communal areas at the lodge with the Beach House serving breakfast and dinner and the Sea Deck hosting lunch. You can enjoy a variety of activities including kayaking, snorkelling, motorboat trips and gentle cruises on traditional pirogues. Guided wildlife walks through the forest, cultural visits and relaxing on the beach are also part of the daily programme at the lodge.
