Nestled away beneath a grove of trees in the heart of the game-rich Mara North Conservancy, Offbeat Mara is a wonderfully traditional tented camp and a superb choice for anyone looking to enjoy the outstanding game viewing synonymous with the area. There are four safari tents and three family tents at the camp with a shaded veranda, all of which are nicely spread about the grounds of the camp. Inside they are spacious and comfortable with indoor sitting areas, writing desks and en-suite bathrooms boasting flush loos and hot safari bucket showers. The main area of the camp is made up of a large dining tent and a separate lounge and bar tent where guests are encouraged to relax during the afternoons. There is a campfire area in front of the camp, a popular spot to congregate before dinner and share tales of the day’s adventures. Day and nighttime game drives are the main activities here, but also possible are full day drives to the main Maasai Mara National Reserve, picnic lunches, guided walks, sundowner drinks and fishing excursions. Hot air ballooning can be arranged at an extra cost.
