Laikipia Wilderness Camp offers its guests a chance to enjoy a wonderfully rustic safari experience in one of Kenya’s most scenic landscapes. Whilst the camp may lack some of the luxuries offered by other camps in the area, it is impeccably run and is a great choice for those looking for an authentic experience. There are five simple and spacious tents at the camp, all of which have their own open air, en-suite bathrooms with running water and flush loos. The tents all have double beds and gauze over the windows to keep bugs out and allow a cool breeze to flow through. There is a covered veranda with wicker chairs where guests can relax in the afternoons. The main mess area has indoor seating and an outdoor terrace where meals can be enjoyed when the weather permits. Evenings are spent around the campfire discussing the day’s experience and listening to your guide’s tales of a life spent around Africa’s big game. Activities that are possible from the camp include game drives, walking safaris, rock climbing, swimming in the river, tubing and fishing, Samburu village visits and, occasionally, fly-camping out under the stars.
