La Selva Jungle Lodge, Ecuadorian Amazon
La Selva Jungle Lodge
Hotel Rating
Our rating: Luxury | Property style: Lodge
A rustic and authentic ecolodge in a remote part of the Yasuní Biosphere Reserve and on the borders of the protected Yasuní National Park, La Selva is one of our favourite options for a wild, authentic yet infinitely comfortable experience of the Ecuadorian Amazon. Situated on the shores of Lake Garzacocha, access via canoe is smooth and explorations of the surrounding rainforest through the lodge’s menu of excursions and naturist guides is made easy. There are 19 luxury suites including three ‘scenic suites’ with views over the lake and four ‘family suites’ with extra room. Although simple, accommodation at La Selva is one of the higher-end options in the Ecuadorian Amazon and provides a welcome level of comfort in its natural architecture. Mostly made out of locally sourced materials, the rooms and lodge have little touches of luxury like marble flooring. Also on site is wonderful restaurant, serving fresh, exotic, local food; a lounge and bar, perfect for tipple as the sun sets; and an ‘indigenous spa’, specialising in sustainable and eco-friendly treatments.
