Alice was introduced to travelling quite early on when her parents decided to move her family from Cornwall to India where she attended an international school in Tamil Nadu. Before then, she hadn’t really left Cornwall, other than the odd sailing holiday to the Channel Islands. So, as much of a culture shock as it was to land in the hustle and bustle of Delhi, the first thing to ease her nerves about the move was how welcoming and kind the people were. About 16 months later, her family then moved to the USA and in the three years that they spend there, tried to tick off as many of the National Parks as they could and went on multiple ski trips in the Rockies and the Blue Ridge Mountains.

She was happy to return to the UK to reconnect with friends when she eventually did but always had travelling in the back of her mind and planned to set out again as soon as she had finished school. When that opportunity came, she saved up to travel to South Africa, where she ended up staying until her three-month visa expired. She got home and immediately started saving to travel to Sri Lanka, which had always been a dream of hers. 

Alice went to University to better understand human-environmental interactions in her Human Geography degree – her favourite modules were all to do with international tourism and sustainable development. After completing her degree, she moved to London to try and find a career that channelled her appetite for travel and interest in geography– in her words “not knowing exactly what it was until I met the team at Wild Frontiers.”
