Doro Nawas Camp
Hotel Rating
Our rating: Luxury | Property style: Lodge
Tucked away deep in Damaraland and run in conjunction with the local Doro Nawas community, Doro Nawas Camp is a wonderful camp for guests looking to explore the vast expanses of Damaraland and learn more about the people who live in this harsh environment. Although a relatively large camp at 16 rooms, including a family room, the camp is sprawled out across a large area so the remote and isolated ambience is preserved. The indoor sleeping areas are spacious and beds can be rolled out onto their large private deck so they can spend a night sleeping beneath the starry skies. Bathrooms are found at the rear of the rooms and have fantastic outdoor showers with plenty of hot running water. The main area offers wonderful 360-degree views across Damaraland, an open plan lounge and dining sections as well as a small swimming pool. Game drives, guided walks and visits to the local community who help run the lodge and maintain the conservancy can be enjoyed at the camp. The location of the lodge also means guests can visit the nearby San Bushmen rock art site at Twyfelfontein.
