Our rating: Luxury | Property style: Lodge
Lewa Wilderness is arguably one of the best-known lodges in Kenya, and remains home to the Craig family, pioneers of conservation in Kenya. With just nine rooms, this small property has a very homely feel to it and a focus on creating an exceptional and personalised safari experience. The hillside rooms are wonderfully spacious and comfortable with stunning views out across the conservancy whilst the two-bedroom garden rooms are ideal for families and sit very close to the main part of the lodge. All rooms are en-suite with full bathroom amenities and lovely verandas where guests can relax. The main area houses the cosy lounge and dining room, with an outdoor terrace also used for meals when the weather allows. The pool is a great spot to relax during the day and take in the beautiful views. The food here is exceptional, served by the ever-smiling team of hospitality staff. A huge range of activities can be enjoyed including game drives, guided walks, horse-riding, camel trekking and visits to the Il Ngwesi cultural boma. Guests can also book flights in the lodge’s historic yellow bi-plane, a real treat for special occasions.
