Then, make your way over to the hills and vineyards of Mendoza to sample some of the finest wines in the country, if not the world. Indulge in gourmet cuisine and relax at a deluxe wine lodge in the heart of the Andean foothills. This upscale adventure concludes at one of South America’s most high-end lodges near the iconic Iguazu Falls for the ultimate VIP treatment.

Day 1 Arrive Buenos Aires
On arrival to Buenos Aires, you’ll be met at the airport by your personal guide and driver, ready to take you straight to one the city's most famous hotel. After a brief introduction to the country and explanation of your itinerary for the next two weeks, you’ll have some time to settle in and rest up after your international flight. Then later this evening, get ready for an apt start to this trip with your first evening of exquisite Argentine fare at an exclusive, closed-door restaurant. You’ll be met in the courtyard for an introduction and given a tour of the artwork displayed in the living room, before sitting down to a culinary journey of seven regional dishes each paired with a corresponding wine.
Day 2 Buenos Aires: Walking Tour & Tango Lesson
Your first day of sightseeing begins with a private walking tour of the charismatic and upbeat immigrant neighbourhoods of San Telmo and La Boca, the cradle of the country’s popular culture. Skipping facts and figures about government buildings you’ll instead hear stories of tango, art, football and food that fill the cobbled streets of San Telmo and its bustling market, and the colourful La Boca port and neighbourhood, home to impromptu street tango and the Junior Bocas football club. After getting a bit of a taste for tango in La Boca, you’ll then head to a local school for a one-hour class with a private tango instructor to teach you the basic steps and get you in the rhythm for the rest of your trip. Enjoy the afternoon and evening at leisure to explore more of the city’s sights at your own pace and sample some of Buenos Aires’s lively restaurants, bars and cafes.
Day 3 Buenos Aires: Estancia Day & Lunch
Drive out across the open pampas today and into gaucho territory to enjoy an authentic day in the countryside at an exclusive, luxury estancia. Upon arrival at the estancia, you'll enjoy a typical BBQ lunch and afternoon tea before some leisure time to enjoy the estancia's activities and facilities, which include a horse ride or horse-drawn carriage, local bowling, or use of the mountain bikes and outdoor swimming pool. Alternatively, you can simply relax and lounge around the beautiful grounds. This estancia also serves as the base for the international polo team and it is sometimes possible to watch practice sessions, or chukkas, on one of the two polo fields.
*For any experienced polo players, arrangements may be made if requested in advance.
Day 4 Buenos Aires - El Calafate - El Chalten
Head back to the airport this morning for your flight south to the Patagonian town of El Calafate where, upon arrival, your local driver will be ready to transfer you past the smaller town of El Chalten, and deep within the Patagonian mountains. After a long but incredibly scenic drive and boat journey, you'll arrive at a remote lodge for something to eat and some time to settle into the stunning atmosphere – the view of Mount Fitz Roy from your bed never ceases to impress.
Day 5 El Chalten: Hiking in Remote Patagonia
Enjoy a full day hiking in the country's outdoor capital, El Chalten, with not another soul around. Enjoy a packed lunch with one of the most incredible views. Day 6 El Chalten: Deep Patagonian Exploration

Day 7 El Chalten - El Calafate
Departing after breakfast, you’ll backtrack the journey here, taking a boat across the lake where your driver will be waiting to transfer you to the popular Patagonian entry town of El Calafate, approximately three-and-a-half hours further. With an afternoon arrival, you'll have the rest of the day to unwind from the last few high-impact days within the remote parts of the national park and enjoy luxury the lodge's facilities.
Day 8 El Calafate: Gourmet Glacier Cruise
Today, you’ll skip the crowds at Perito Moreno glacier for a seat on the premium deck of a luxury gourmet cruise navigating the waters of the Los Glaciares National Park, whilst enjoying a sumptuous lunch with striking views of the surrounding glaciers on board.
Day 9 El Calafate - Bariloche
Heading back to the airport after breakfast, you’ll take a direct flight to Bariloche, located in the country’s Lake District in northern Patagonia, where you'll meet your guide. During the arrival transfer, you’ll have an introductory tour of the town, sometimes likened to Switzerland for its chocolatiers and alpine architecture, as you drive through. A stop at Campanario Hill, long after the morning tourist groups have left, is the perfect introduction to the area’s renowned beauty.
Day 10 Bariloche: Private Boat Exploration
Drive to the bay this morning to board a private boat to some lesser-visited areas of Bariloche’s huge Nahuel Huapi Lake. Navigating across the lake, surrounded by impressive landscapes of mountains and waterfalls, you’ll reach the other end and head ashore for a nature walk through dense Patagonian rainforest, along Frey Creek and to the beautiful Frey Waterfall. Then heading back to the beach, your guide will choose a peaceful spot for lunch, or if preferred lunch can be taken on board. After some time to relax and enjoy the fresh landscapes and air, you can navigate back to the port and your hotel.
Day 11 El Calafate - Mendoza
A short flight this morning brings you to Mendoza, the country’s premier wine region. Upon arrival, you'll be met by your guide for a two-hour transfer to your accommodation. The hotel is set in an Argentine country house and winery on a lush, green vineyard estate in the Uco Valley desert with a few other wineries and the Andean foothills close by. The rest of the afternoon is left free to relax and lounge in the beautiful grounds until dinner.
Day 12 Mendoza: Argentinian Barbecue & Wine Tour
After the morning at leisure to either relax by the peaceful pool after the last few days of activity, or continue the pace by hiking, biking or horseback riding in the grounds, you’ll be led to the vineyard to sit down to a romantic lunchtime asado (Argentinean barbecue), Casa De Uco-style, set up especially for you with a view of the surrounding snow-capped mountains. The meal is served with vegetables straight from the hotel’s garden and paired with a selection of their best wines. Following lunch, you’ll slowly be led through the estate and winery for a tour of the production process, before enjoying a further selection of wines in the tasting room.
Day 13 Mendoza - Iguazu
Heading back to the airport, you’ll fly to Iguazu for your final stop on this classic, luxury tour of Argentina. Upon arrival, you’ll be driven through the steamy forests to your lodge nestled within dense tropical trees. The rest of the day is set aside to relax and unwind, making use of the facilities at the exclusive Awasi lodge.
Day 14 Iguazu: Explore the Atlantic Rainforest
With your private guide, one of the best in the region, you'll head out to the virtually untrodden areas of the rich Atlantic Rainforest to learn about the region's flora and fauna. These exclusive tours have been designed with the help of renowned biologists, currently available only with the guides at Awasi Lodge. Head back to the lodge for lunch, or simply take a premier picnic packed by the kitchen with you in your private chauffeured vehicle included at your disposal.
Day 15 Iguazu: Iconic Falls
Available to only two hotels in the area, you'll be granted access to the national park before the Iguazu Waterfall gates open to the rest of the public. Exploring the park at this peaceful time in the morning, you'll find how busy the forest is at this time in the morning without the tourists, full of birdsong and butterflies floating around. Then, when it's time, being one of the first visitors for the day, you can enjoy a solitary moment of exhilaration at the falls' most thrilling site, the Devil's Throat, before flocks of tourists begin filing in. The rest of the day can be spent exploring the network of trails around the falls, or perhaps jumping in your car to head back to the hotel, Enjoy an exquisite dinner for your final evening in Argentina.
Day 16 Depart Iguazu
Today you’ll be taken to the airport in time for your departure flight where the team in Argentina bid you a farewell.

The six rustic, wooden rooms feature a simple design and necessities like ensuite bathrooms, heating and basic furniture. Eolo Lodge, El Calafate
Eolo is a boutique country lodge situated outside of the main town of El Calafate and built in a traditional Patagonian ranch fashion but with comfortable, modern luxuries making this a wonderfully remote place to stay where you really feel the sense of the wilds of Patagonia. Positive Impact of this Trip
Making a Difference
Community Tourism
People and local communities have always been at the heart of Wild Frontiers and the travel experiences we offer. Through community tourism we have the opportunity to generate real positive impact, supporting people we visit through sustainable local development, and in turn help to alleviate poverty and protect culture and environments in often more vulnerable destinations. While doing so, our clients gain richer travel experiences and more meaningful connections with the people they meet.
Conservation and Climate Action
As a travel company, we hold a responsibility to minimise our environmental footprint and contribute to sustainability, and work closely with local communities to support their efforts. By implementing initiatives such as carbon measuring, tree-planting, reducing single-use plastic and promoting eco-friendly practices, we can help mitigate the negative impacts of tourism on fragile ecosystems and local communities. Additionally, prioritising conservation efforts helps preserve natural habitats and wildlife, ensuring that future generations can continue to enjoy the wonders of our planet.
Wild Frontiers Foundation
The Wild Frontiers Foundation aims to provide a platform to create awareness, raise money and deliver funding to projects in countries where we operate as a travel company. Through the foundation, we are able to channel money into grass roots projects, which we have either established ourselves or support through charity partners.
