Tucked away in Damaraland’s Torra Conservancy in the valley of the Huab River, Damaraland Camp offers guests unrivalled access to one of Namibia’s best wilderness areas with huge open plains, ancient valleys and beautiful purple mountains in the background. Ten canvas sided, thatched-roof rooms, including a family room, provides a wonderfully intimate wilderness experience, complimented by some friendly staff and excellent guides in Namibia. All of the rooms are raised up off the desert floor with large private decking areas at the front on which to enjoy a good book and the views across the ancient desert. The main area of the lodge has a dining room, lounge area with sofas and open sides so the views can be enjoyed. A swimming pool, campfire area and outdoor dining space are also found at the main section of the lodge. Guided nature walks and drives are the order of the day and great way to see and learn more about the incredible, adapted animals and plants found in the area. Day trips can also be organised to the nearby rock art sites and the area supports a surprising variety of birdlife, especially during the wetter summer months.
