Forsyth Lodge, Satpura
Hotel Rating
Our rating: Premium | Property style: Resort
This wonderfully stylish and atmospheric new Forsyth Lodge at the recently opened Satpura National Park lies just a few minutes from the beautiful Tewa Reservoir and the park entrance. With a backdrop of plateaus and hills, the area is totally unspoiled and ultimately peaceful. The staff is local and gentle and the owners are passionate wildlife enthusiasts who try to veer away from the constant reference to the 'tiger'. Despite being in prime tiger habitat, the focus here is on the environment and the quality of the overall wilderness experience they provide. One of the key highlights is the variety of ways in which one can view game - on foot, by kayak, by jeep, and by boat, as well as night drives and 2-man hides in the park. Riding safaris are also planned. The 12 cottages are made primarily of mud and brick and according to local village design. With private verandahs and colourful, cheery furnishings, they are spacious, well decorated and scattered around the central lodge grounds and swimming pool. The main lodge is home to a cosy sitting room, dining room, bar and relaxing, open air terraces. Forsyth's is perfectly positioned to fit in with other wildlife parks or to tack onto a journey around southern Rajasthan / Bundelkhand. It offers a truly unique and highly varied, wildlife experience that would keep the most demanding wildlife enthusiast happy. Visiting a park in its infancy is a rare treat!
