An exquisite boutique hotel set in a restored 17th century republican house, Palacio Manco Capac sits on a hill overlooking central Cusco, a 10-minute walk from the main square but worlds away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas. Sharing the city’s deep history from the Incas, through the colonial period to 19th century, there are Inca ruins on the grounds and what some believe to be the front door of the palace of legendary Inca founder Manco Capac himself. Guests are instantly reminded of the house’s origins walking through the communal areas, decorated with colonial-inspired artwork and pieces. Offering both historic and modern rooms, all 20 are elegantly finished and come with either garden or city views. The modern bar and restaurant, with floor-to-ceiling windows, are perfectly relaxing after a day of sightseeing. Overall, a superb place to stay with attentive service and magnificent views from the terrace.
