Luxury, history and nature meet at the 16th century colonial hacienda of San Agustin de Callo; a charming property located one and a half hours south of Quito. This beautiful lodge is built on the site of an old Inca palace offering an unrivalled glimpse into Ecuador's rich and colourful past. Famed German explorer Alexander von Humboldt was said to have once used this ranch as a base to study the Andean highlands. The working farm has 11 rooms and suites, spread out over three buildings which are elegant, cosy and all individually decorated. There is an onsite restaurant serving typical Andean dishes. Overall this is a great base for your excursions into the stunning Cotopaxi National Park and additional activities, such as horse-riding in the high Andes, can be arranged by the lodge with notice for your free time.
