The 45 room Zhiwa Ling Hotel combines the best of modern comforts and traditional Bhutanese hospitality. Built in the style of a Bhutanese Dzong and created by over 60 local artisans, the hotel is decorated throughout with intricate stonework, elaborate wooden cornices and antique textiles. This 4-star property is one of only two in the country to be ISO certified. Set amongst 10 acres of enchanting countryside, the hotel’s 45 lavishly appointed suites offer private balconies, spacious living areas and wifi connections. The use of local wood and natural fibres connects guests with the outdoors as do the panoramic views of the surrounding forested hillsides. The resort also features two restaurants, a spa, a relaxing tea house and an in-house temple, as well as offering the chance to enjoy yoga and Buddhist meditation classes with visiting teachers. The hotel has a particularly strong emphasis on sustainability with core values focusing on environmental measures, human development and philanthropy. Actions include ensuring staff growth, recycling and waste reduction policies, local product sourcing, water conservation and carbon reduction. There are also community projects to protect te environment and create local business opportunities.
