This remarkable journey encompasses everything from Sufi tombs and desert fortresses, to bustling bazaars and lively cities, as you travel from the streets of Karachi and deep into the Punjab.
Beginning in Karachi you'll have a chance to explore one of Pakistan's most exciting and historic cities, before journeying across a landscape filled with World Heritage ruins and dazzling Sufi mausoleums. You will discover the tombs of some of the country's most revered mystics and poets, visit the World Heritage ruins of Mohenjo-daro and travel into the deserts of Cholistan to see the imposing fortress of Derawar. In Multan, explore the renowned City of the Sufis, before ending your journey in Lahore, the cultural heart of the Punjab. Here, amongst the chaos and clamour of one of the most vibrant cities in the country, you'll spend a day discover the historic and religious reminders of the Moghul, Sikh and British Empires.

This is an example itinerary. Our experts have all travelled widely in the region and will be happy to tailor any of our itineraries to suit your tastes and budget, or build a trip from scratch.
Day 1 ARRIVE KARACHI
On arrival in Karachi today you will be met and transferred to your hotel. After a chance to settle in and freshen up, this afternoon you'll begin a tour of the city with a visit to the Shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi. Born in Medina in 720 AD and widely revered throughout Pakistan, he was considered the patron saint of Karachi. Later you will have an opportunity to visit Clifton Beach, the National Museum and the Mausoleum of Muhammad Ali Jinnah.
Day 2 KARACHI - HYDERABAD
Departing Karachi after breakfast this morning, you'll drive on to the city of Hyderabad today. The journey takes you by way of the World Heritage site at Makli Hill, home to one of the largest necropolises in the world, and the Shah Jahan Mosque at Thatta, built during the golden age of Mughal architecture.
Day 3 HYDERABAD - LARKANA
From Hyderabad the adventure continues through the north-west regions of Sindh province, towards the historic city of Larkana. Stops en route at the shrines of the famous Sufi saints of Lal Shabaz Qalander and Abdul Latif Bhittai provide a chance to discover more about these revered mystics, philosophers and poets, before continuing on to your overnight stop in Larkana, on the banks of the River Indus.
Day 4 LARKANA - SUKKUR
Larkana is home to one of the largest and oldest settlements of the ancient Indus Valley Civilisation. The site at Mohenjo-daro (Mound of the Dead) was abandoned as far back as the 19th century BC. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, you'll have a chance to visit the Mohenjo-daro Museum, before continuing the drive on to Sukkur. On arrival, if time allows, there may be a chance to visit the local market this evening.
Day 5 SUKKUR - BAHAWALPUR
A full day's drive takes you on to Bahawalpur today, once part of an independent princely state that was founded in 1802 by Nawab Mohammad Bahawal Khan II. The road passes by the city of Uch Sharif, which was believed to have been founded by Alexander the Great in 325 BC at the confluence of the Indus and Chenab Rivers. From here you then complete the journey on to Bahawalpur.
Day 6 BAHAWALPUR
Following breakfast, you will drive into the remote landscapes of the Cholistan Desert this morning, to pay a visit to the imposing setting of Derawar Fort. Built by the Rajput Bhati, the fortress dominates the desert around it, with 40 towering bastions that stand over 30 metres in height. Visit the fort and the royal tombs of the Bahawalpur Nawabs before returning to Bahawalpur for a second night.
Day 7 BAHAWALPUR - MULTAN
A morning tour of Bahawalpur today provides an opportunity to discover a little something of its historic and cultural highlights including the Noor Mahal and the Farid Gate, with its bustling local market. Departing the city after the visit, you'll then head on towards Multan, located on the banks of the Chenab River.
Day 8 MULTAN
Multan (Madinat-ul-Auliya) is known as the City of the Sufis, or the City of the Saints, largely due to the abundant number of Sufi shrines that lie scattered across the city. Amongst the monuments that you will visit today are included the shrines of Shah Rukn-i-Alam, BhahuddinZikria and Shams Tabraz. You'll also have an opportunity to spend some time exploring the Old Bazaar.
Day 9 MULTAN - LAHORE
From Multan the journey takes you on to the capital of the Punjab next, as you drive to Lahore, the largest Punjabi city in the world. Stopping en route at the famous archaeological site at Harappa, you'll have a chance to discover the remains of a Bronze Age fortified city whose origins have been dated back to 2600BC. Arrive in Lahore later today.
Day 10 LAHORE
Today you can explore Lahore – the historic capital of both the Moghul and Sikh empires, a city which also played a significant part in the British governance of the Punjab. Home to a remarkable collection of cultural and historic highlights, your tour today will include the wonderful assortment of artefacts and national history displayed at the Lahore Museum, the striking Badshahi Mosque built from red sandstone and the neighbouring Lahore Fort. This afternoon head to the walled city of Lahore to view the hustle and bustle of day to day life in this city. If you walk through the busy bazaar you can also visit the spectacular and recently restored Shahi Hammam as well as the Wazir Khan Mosque.
Day 11 LAHORE
Lahore is one of the great centres of Mughal Architecture. With its magnificent Islamic monuments, spectacular reminders from the era of British rule, chaotic old city bazaar and modern status, Lahore remains high on the list of Pakistan's unmissable sights, including the UNESCO World Heritage sites of the Jahangir Tomb and Shalimar Garden. This afternoon drive on to the Wagah border where you will join the patriotic crowds to witness the extraordinary – and very bizarre – Wagah Border Ceremony.
Day 12 DEPART LAHORE
You will be transferred to the airport in time for your onward flight.

Indus Hotel, Hyderabad
Indus is a comfortable hotel located in the heart of the city of Hyderabad. The 123 rooms are set over 5 floors and are all en suite and air conditioned. The restaurants serves local as well as multi cuisine food. There is an outdoor entertainment venue which caters for local guests, tourists and corporate events.
Sambara Inn, Larkana
One of the best places to stay at Larkana, the Sambara Inn is owned and managed by the Sindh Tourism departments. It is a standard, very simple hotel with basic facilities set around a green, garden area where peacocks roam. There is also a restaurant and pool (seasonal) on site. Meals have to be requested for in advance at the hotel and paid for in cash as they do not accept credit cards. The hotel is a good base for people visiting the ancient city of Mohenjodaro.
Hotel One Bahawalpur, Bahawalpur
Hotel One is a conveniently located, clean and comfortable hotel in the town of Bahawalpur. All rooms have free wifi, air conditioning and minibar and the restaurant serves local, Chinese and Continental cuisine.
Ramada Hotel, Multan
Located centrally in the city of Multan, the Ramada Hotel provides easy access to all of the city’s popular attractions. The hotel comes with an outdoor swimming pool, fitness facilities and high speed internet access. Ample dining options are available at the hotel and in close vicinity of the hotel, in the nearby shopping areas.
Luxus Grand, Lahore
Located in Lahore, the Luxus Grand Hotel features free WiFi access and private parking. Guests can enjoy the on-site multiple cuisine restaurant, gym, swimming pool and the Gold class Cinema on the second floor. Each room is fitted with a flat-screen TV with satellite channels. The rooms are fitted with a spacious private bathroom, soft towels, slippers and free toiletries and amenities. The rooms are equipped with low noise air conditioning and double glazed windows to block the noise of the city for better comfort while sleeping.
Beach Luxury Hotel, Karachi
Part of the Avari Hotel Group, Beach Luxury Hotel in Karachi offers views of the Arabian Sea Creek alongside three-star amenities. The 82 rooms and suites have comforts such as Wi-Fi, air-conditioning, a television, private bathroom and views of the gardens or sea. The three restaurants serve national and international cuisine. After enjoying a meal, wander through the tropical gardens or relax by the outdoor pool; there is also a small but well-equipped gym on site.
