The ‘Land of Silver’, Argentina likes to do things on a big scale. The birthplace of Che Guevara and the legendary Eva Peron, it is a land of passion and football; fine wine and tango. From the fertile plains of the Pampas, to the extraordinary glaciers of Patagonia, the country is filled with dynamism, European-style towns and cities and vast open landscapes. The capital, Buenos Aires, alone could keep you occupied for days. Known as ‘the Paris of the South’, the wide, tree-lined boulevards of Buenos Aires play host to red-hot tango shows, world renowned operas and some of the finest steak houses in the southern hemisphere.
Away from the bright lights of the big cities you can join gauchos on the fertile grasslands of Patagonia, try wines from the lush landscapes of Mendoza, or visit the thundering waters of Iguazú Falls. To the north lie the colourful mountains and gorges of Salta, whilst the beautiful western Lake District of Bariloche provides a chance to fish and hike amongst some of the most spectacular scenery anywhere in the country.

Ice trek on Cagliero Glacier
Hike through the lenga forest of Los Huemeles to reach the Glacier Cagliero. It has not receded due to its positioning and the accumulation of snow coming from the surrounding peaks. Then, with crampons fixed, enjoy experience trekking on the glacier itself.
Dine at an evening tango show
Nothing is more synonymous with Argentina than tango, good food and quality wine, so where better to experience all three than the lively capital. Enjoy an evening dinner and drinks over a sultry tango performance and live music evoking feelings of passion.
Kayak on the Iguazu River
Kayak down the Iguazu River flanked by the banks of Argentina and Brazil on either side for wonderful views of the natural beauty spanning the area of both countries. During the 17km route you’ll observe local flora and fauna with your specialist guide.
Go horse riding at an estancia

USEFUL INFORMATION
Health and Vaccinations
There are no mandatory immunisations for travellers to Argentina though you should be up-to-date with Typhoid, Tetanus, Polio and Hepatitis A. Malaria is low risk throughout the year in all areas. Please note we are not medical professionals and so we highly recommend you seek advice from your local GP or travel centre as to the correct immunisations and preventative treatments.
Currency
In Argentina the official unit of currency is the Peso.

Cultural Sensitivity
On our tours we frequently interact with local people, each with their own distinct customs and traditions. We therefore ask you to be considerate and to treat them with respect. Your guides will be able to advise you accordingly.
Although South Americans are very relaxed in comparison to people in other parts of the world, some places are very traditional and conservative, and your dress/behaviour should respect this. Public displays of affection are considered inappropriate. We also recommend taking the time to learn a little Spanish – manners are held in high regard and a few pleasantries in the local language are always appreciated. You will find that the more effort you make to talk to people in their own language, the more rewarding your holiday experience will be.
Language & Religion
Spanish is the official language of Argentina. English is widely spoken with some French and German. Taking a phrasebook with you on your travels is advisable. More than 90% are Roman Catholic and 2% are Protestant with small Muslim and Jewish communities.

Food and drink
Argentina offers an exceptional standard of food, although choices can often be restricted to meat, pasta and pizza. Buenos Aires, however, offers a wide choice of culinary options, with Japanese, Thai and Asian-fusion food becoming increasingly popular. Argentines dine late – 9pm is considered early. Famed for the quality of its steaks, Argentina is also a meat eater's dream, and a visit to a parrilla (grill restaurant) should be on every visitor's must-do list.
